Modern world premiere of works that were created or appeared thanks to international studentship at Charles University will be heard in Prague thanks to David Eben and his male choir Schola Gregoriana Pragensis, which ranks among the world-renowned ensembles interpreting medieval and Renaissance sacred music. Their program includes contemporary choral repertoire from liturgical ceremonies, as well as previously unknown spiritual songs and numerous polyphonic compositions, especially from France. A treatise on “modern” French (mensural) notation, which is probably the oldest treatise on this topic in Central Europe, was created for the Prague university around 1369.
