„Nostalgia“ ( Jiří Slavík’s project )

The trio’s first joint album, entitled Nostalgia, is a kind of partial return to the past – which is why, in addition to original music, it also contains arrangements of compositions by G. Gershwin and Ch. Mingus or unexpected cover versions of world-famous songs „It’s a Long Way To Tipperary“ or „Škoda lásky“.

„When I first heard Liam and Paul playing together in a duo, it felt completely natural and easy. It was like watching two people who have known each other their whole lives and understand each other perfectly. I never dreamed that I would ever be able to stand on stage with them and share their music with them. They are both huge masters of what they do, which is mainly due to their own and very unique musical style. At the same time, I find this type of mastery increasingly rare – as it is not so much part of the current musical fashion, it is slowly disappearing and probably no longer attracts the upcoming generation. Hence the name Nostalgia – together we return to a time when musicians had no other option than to stand close to each other, listen to each other as best they can and play only with what they can get from their acoustic instruments at that moment.“ – says Jiří Slavík.
