Franz Liszt (1811–1886): Oratorium Christus, S.3

Franz Liszt’s monumental oratorio Christus will be performed in Ostrava for the first time ever – thanks to the exceptional cooperation of the St. Wenceslas Music Festival and the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre. Liszt’s three-part composition follows the life of Christ from birth through the Passion to the Resurrection and combines Gregorian chant with romantic orchestration and spiritual depth. The orchestra and choir of the NDM Opera will perform under the baton of Marek Šedivý, with leading soloists led by Roman Hoza as Christ. In the acoustically magnificent Cathedral of the Divine Savior, Liszt’s opus will be heard as a spiritual and musical event of the year – a rare meeting of faith and music.
