BABORÁK & THE PRAGUE CHAMBER SOLOISTS VRANICKÝ / RÖSSLER / MOZART

Programme

Radek Baborák, one of the world’s most charismatic horn players and conductors, brings to Ostrava a programme that unites the elegance of Czech Classicism with the genius of Mozart. At the head of the Prague Chamber Soloists, he presents music by Pavel Vranický – a contemporary of Beethoven whose spirited overture to Oberon ranks among the finest works of the Czech Classical era.

Mozart is heard three times: in the sparkling Divertimento in D major, in the virtuosic Horn Concerto No. 3, in which Baborák appears as soloist, and finally in the celebrated “Haffner” Symphony, radiant with the energy of Salzburg Classicism. The programme is complemented by music of Rössler-Rosetti, a distinguished composer of horn concertos whose works combine nobility with lyrical expressiveness. The evening at the church in Pustkovec promises an adventurous journey to the roots of Central European Classicism, performed by artists of world-class stature.
