The Prague Children’s Choir Radost

The Prague Children’s Choir Radost was founded in 1961 by choirmaster Vladislav Souček. Originally, the school choir of the Elementary School in Korunovační Street operated for many years under the Children’s and Youth Center of Prague 7, and since 1994 it has been operating under the Elementary Art School in Šimáčková Street in Prague 7. The children of Radost sang in more than twenty European countries, visited Canada in 1994 and 1997, and regularly participate successfully in international competitions (Bratislava, Cantonigròs, Celje, Kaunas, Limburg-Lindenholzhausen, Llangollen, Montreux, Neerpelt, Preveza, Rimini, Tours, Warsaw etc.).

The choir cooperates with Czech Radio, Czech Television and the State Opera in Prague, with important professional ensembles (FOK Prague Symphony Orchestra, Prague Philharmonic Choir, Kühn Mixed Choir, Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno, Sedláček Quartet, Stamic Quartet, Musica Bohemica etc.) and also with a number of popular personalities (Vojtěch Dyk, Zdeněk Svěrák, Jaroslav Uhlíř etc.), in In recent years, he performed at Bohuslav Martinů Days, Dvořák‘s Prague, Prague Spring, Prague Autumn and Smetana‘s Litomyšl. The ensemble’s repertoire includes all periods and various musical genres, Radost Praha regularly premieres the works of contemporary composers (Eliška Cílková, Emil Hradecký, Pavel Jurkovič, etc.) and participates in recording.
