Musician – saxophonist, clarinetist, founder, teacher of the saxophone class of the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava and the University of Ostrava, 1st clarinetist of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Polish Radio in Katowice, 1st clarinetist of the Stadler Clarinet Quartet, jazzman. He is interested in classical and jazz music and their fusion. Born on 15 February 1976 in Třinec.
Graduated in clarinet at the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava (1995), University of Ostrava (1999) with Doc. Valter Vítek (2001), clarinet (2001) with prof. Andrzej Janicki, jazz saxophone (2004) with prof. Jerzy Główczewski at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, classical saxophone (2016) with prof. Andrzej Rzymkowski at the Academy of Music in Kraków. He has received numerous awards, among others in the International Clarinet Competition of Polish Music of the XXth Century in Ostrava – 1st Prize (1995), Music Competition of Czech Universities (Brno) – 1st Prize (1996), Clarinet Competition – Piotrków Trybunalski (Poland) – 1st Prize (1997), Clarinet Competition Włoszakowice (Poland) – 1st Prize (2000). As a soloist or orchestral player he has collaborated with the orchestras of the NOSPR in Katowice, Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra in Ostrava, Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra (Katowice), Sinfonietta Cracovia (Poland), Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra in Olomouc, Janáček Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra of New Music in Katowice, Rybnik Philharmonic Orchestra (Poland), Ostrava Banda, National Moravian-Silesian Theatre. He is a member of K&K Dua (Marcela Kysová-Halmová – accordion). He has performed at major international music festivals such as Janáček May Festival, St. Wenceslas Music Festival, Ostrava Days Contemporary Music Festival and clarinet congresses in Ostrava and Katowice. He has made numerous recordings for Czech and Polish radio, Naxos label, several CDs (classical music/jazz/pop). In the field of jazz and popular music, he performs with his band Blue Space, Zbigniew Kaleta Quartet, 4P Quartet, Vlastík Šmída Trio, fusion band Flegma, ORO (Ostrava Radio Orchestra), singers Martin Chodúr, Elis Mraz, Markéta Konvičková, Zbyněk Terner and many other jazz groups. He also works as a studio player. With the 4P Quartet he recorded a series of jazz programmes “Letem jazzem” for Noe TV.
