Improvisation
The organ recital by Luxembourg master Maurice Clement will present a cross-section of European organ literature from the Baroque to the present. The first part will feature an elegant overture by J. L. Krebs, a dance-like suite by Fischer, and virtuoso works by J. S. Bach – including a concert transcription of BWV592 and the contemplative chorale “Schmücke dich, o liebe Seele”. This will be followed by a work developed by Mendelssohn with variations and a trio of romantic compositions by C. Franck, culminating in a symphonic fantasy. The conclusion will be provided by Arvo Pärt’s meditative composition “Mein Weg hat Gipfel und Wellentäler”. The evening is dominated not only by virtuosity, but also by spiritual depth and variety of styles.
