Petr Eben (1929–2007): The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart for organ and recitation

The Labyrinth of the World and the Paradise of the Heart by Petr Eben is a deeply meditative musical-literary composition for organ and reciter inspired by the work of Jan Amos Comenius. Marek Eben delivers an emotionally charged recitation, accompanied by sensitive organ parts by Tomáš Thon, a specialist in the interpretation of Petr Eben’s organ compositions. The composition combines philosophical reflections on human search with musical layers of improvisation and dramatic flow. The evening performance in the Church of St. Nicholas in Ludgeřovice is part of the celebrations of the 355th anniversary of Comenius and offers the audience a spiritual and intellectual experience that resonates both musically and literaryly – in a space that deepens the meaning of every note and word.
