Marta Chila Reichelová

Soprano Marta Chila Reichelová is a graduate of the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava and the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno, where she studied voice and completed a doctoral degree in the field of interpretation and performance. She has furthered her education through masterclasses and summer academies in Austria and Germany. She is a laureate of several vocal competitions, including the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary, the Prof. Dichler Interpretation Competition in Vienna, and was a semi-finalist of the 34th Hans Gabor Belvedere International Singing Competition in Amsterdam.

From 2014 to 2018, she was a permanent soloist with the Janáček Opera Ensemble in Brno. Her roles there included the Vixen Sharp-Ears (Janáček: The Cunning Little Vixen), Zerlina (Mozart: Don Giovanni), Despina (Mozart: Così fan tutte), Barče (Smetana: The Kiss), First Wood Nymph (Dvořák: Rusalka), Esmeralda (Smetana: The Bartered Bride), Penelopka (Ivanovič: Čarokraj), and the Maid (Adès: Powder Her Face), among others.

In the 2015–2016 season, she debuted at the National Theatre in Prague as Brigitta (Tchaikovsky: Iolanta) and the Cook (Stravinsky: The Nightingale), and at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre as Ophelia (Thomas: Hamlet).

She has been included three times in the wider nominations for the Thalia Award. She has had the opportunity to work with renowned directors such as Robert Carsen, Petr Forman, Radovan Lipus, Marián Chudovský, Jiří Nekvasil, and with conductors including Jiří Bělohlávek, Jakub Hrůša, Tomáš Brauner, Jakub Klecker, Cornelius Meister, and Jan Latham-Koenig.

As a concert soloist, she performs with leading Czech orchestras and has appeared in countries such as the UK, Austria, Germany, China, and Oman. She is passionate about the interpretation of vocal parts from 20th-century and contemporary composers, including Leoš Janáček, Jaroslav Křička, Hans Abrahamsen, Petr Fiala, Thomas Adès, Michael Nejtek, and others.
