Veronika Rovná

Veronika Rovná (née Holbová) is a Czech soprano. She studied at the Janáček Conservatory and Grammar School in Ostrava and at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. MgA. Eva Dřízgová, Ph.D. She is a laureate of numerous competitions, including First Prize in the OPERA WOMEN category at the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary (2015).

Since 2009 she has appeared as a guest artist at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava; from the 2019/2020 season she has been a permanent member of the ensemble and ranks among its leading soloists. For her portrayals of Míla Válková (Janáček: Osud) and Suor Angelica (Puccini: Suor Angelica), she received the Jantar Award (2018). She has also performed at the National Theatre and the State Opera in Prague, as well as in Brno, Košice, and at the Opéra de Lyon in France.

She collaborates with leading orchestras and choirs, including the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, State Philharmonic Košice, Collegium 1704, Prague Philharmonic Choir, and Czech Philharmonic Choir Brno. In 2026 she made her debut with the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra and is scheduled to collaborate with the South Bohemian Philharmonic. She regularly appears at major festivals, including Smetana’s Litomyšl, the Leoš Janáček International Music Festival, and the St. Wenceslas Music Festival, among others.

In autumn 2024, she recorded Dvořák’s cantata The Spectre’s Bride (Svatební košile) with the Prague Philharmonia under the baton of Petr Altrichter; the album will be released in spring 2026 by PARMA Recordings. She also participated in the highly acclaimed recording of works by Vítězslava Kaprálová with the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava conducted by Alena Hron.
