Václava Krejčí Housková

Václava Krejčí Housková studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. Her main mentors there were soprano doc. Helena Kaupová and vocal couch and pianist Mark Pinzow. Beside the academy she participated on masterclasses with Margareet Honig.

Her first contract was as a soloist in the Moravian Theatre Olomouc. She sang lead mezzosoprano’s roles in Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, Verdi’s Fastaff and Nabucco, Tchaikovsky’s Eugen Onegin, Rossini’s Barbiere di Sevilla.

Currently is Václava engaged in The National Theater Brno where she performes many big roles such as Bizet’s Carmen, Dvořák’s Ježibaba (Rusalka), Káča (The Devil and Kate), Rossini’s Isolier (Le comte Ory), Tchaikovsky’s Pavlina and Daphnis (The Queen of Spadess), Gounod’s Siebel (Faust) and Janáček’s The Fox (The Cunning Little Vixen) and Strauss´s Octavian (Der Rosenkavalier).

Václava made her debut in National Theater Prague as Bizet’s Carmen in 2014. On the first czech opera stage she also performed Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Third Lady (The Magic Flute), Lapák (The Cunning Little Vixen), Death (Nightingale) and Laura (Jolanta). As a guest soloist she cooperate with F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec (Tigrana – Edgar, Orfeo – Orfeo a Eurydice) and Theater J. K. Tyla in Pilsen (Nicklauss and Muse – The Tales of Hoffmann). In 2014 she was nominated for Thalia Prize for the successful stage performance as Smeton in Donnizetti’s Anna Bolena and in 2020 as Bizet´s Carmen (Theater J. K. Tyla in Pilsen). In autumn 2018 within the European theatres project Opera Vision was recorded czech opera The Cunning Little Vixen in National Theatre Brno where Vaclava sang the main role of The Fox. In 2018 Vaclava recorded  the CD /The diary of one who disappeared – Hyperion/ in London. She collaborate with greate pianist Julius Drake and scottish tenor Nicky Spence.In 2020 won that CD BBC Music Magazine Awards and Gramophone Classical Music Awards. In 2022 Václava made her debut in Theater an der Wien in a new prodution of Leoš Janáček´s opera Jenufa (Rychtářka). She also had international success as the Bradamante. She performed a successful production in the Theater de Versailles and Cean.

Her sacred music repertoire includes Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Beethoven´s Missa solemnis, Rossini’s Stabat Mater or Dvořák’s Requiem and Stabat Mater. In Vaclava’s chamber music repertoir you can find primarily czech songs and song cycles by Janáček, Dvořák, Křička and Eben.

She is a guest of prestigious czech and international music festivals, e.g. the Wexford Festival Opera , Festival L´Ěté Bergerac, The Prague Spring, Smetana’s Litomyšl Opera Festival, Prague Proms, Edinburgh festival and many others.
