Karolína Levková began studying classical singing at the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava under the direction of Mgr. Marta Jirásková in 2013 and graduated in 2020. Since then she has been studying at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava under the direction of doc. MgA. Eva Dřízgová, Ph. D. In 2023 she completed her Bachelor’s degree and now continues her Master’s studies.
She is a laureate of many Czech and Slovak international singing competitions:
– In 2023 she won the 2nd prize at the Gabriela Beňáčková International Singing Competition in Jihlava and 2 other awards (the Michael Vaccaro Award and the Gabriela Beňáčková Award).
– In 2022 she participated in the 56th International Antonín Dvořák’s Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary, where she won the 1st prize in the Junior category and 5 other awards. These include the National Theatre Prague Award and the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra Award.
– In 2021 she won the 3rd prize in the Song category and an Honorable Mention for her participation in the Ninal round of the Junior category. In addition, she won 2 minor prizes for the best placed Czech singer in the Song category.
– In 2018 she won the 2nd prize in the Opera Hopeful category at the same competition.
She is also the winner of the international singing competition in Olomouc (2017) and a finalist in the Rudolf Petrák’s International Singing Competition in Žilina, where she received an Honorable Mention (2016).
In 2013, she won the title of the absolute winner at the Pro Bohemia International Singing Competition, where she also performed at the Janáček May Festival.
During her studies at the conservatory, she performed the role of the Fox from Leoš Janáček’s opera The Cunning Little Vixen (2018), the role of Dido from Henry Purcell’s opera Dido and Aeneas (2019) and the role of Rusalka from Antonín Dvořák’s opera Rusalka (2020).
She has collaborated with the Prague Philharmonic Choir, sung with the PKF – Prague Philharmonia, Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra and Frýdek-Místek Symphony Orchestra, with whom she sang, among others, soprano solos in Requiem and Coronation Mass by W. A. Mozart. She performs at festivals in the Czech Republic and abroad (Smetana’s Litomyšl, St. Wenceslas Music Festival, Les Musicales de Louvergny in France).
In the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre she performed the following roles:
– Theatre “12” – Child (M. Ravel: Child and Magic), Dido (H. Purcell: Dido and Aeneas), Cupid (C. Monteverdi: Il ballo delle Ingrate)- Jiřı́ Myron Theatre – Maria (L. Bernstein: West Side Story)- Antonín Dvořák Theatre – Lidka (B. Smetana: Two Widows), Esmeralda (B. Smetana: The Bartered Bride), The First Reaper (B. Smetana: Libuše), The Shepherd (R. Wagner: Tannhäuser), Chocholka (L. Janáček: The Cunning Little Vixen) and The First Fairy (A. Dvořák: Rusalka).
In the 2023/24 season she made her debut at the State Opera Prague in the role of Giannetta (G. Donizetti: The Drink of Love) and at the Estates Theatre in Prague in the role of Trudel (P. Hindemith: Tuttifäntchen).
In the 2024/25 season she will make her debut at the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec in the role of Maria (L. Bernstein: West Side Story).
