Slovenian tenor Martin Logar is dedicated to exploring the expressive and technical possibilities of the human voice. His extensive experience across a wide range of musical styles and constellations has shaped him into a versatile and perceptive musician, whose artistic work is complemented by a deep commitment to mentoring.
After completing his studies, the Prešeren Award laureate embarked on a freelance career throughout Europe, where his solo activity has increasingly focused on concert and oratorio repertoire. The music of Johann Sebastian Bach holds a particularly significant place in his work, currently forming a substantial and steadily growing part of his artistic life.
Martin Logar has collaborated with some of the leading European ensembles and conductors, appearing as a soloist at major concert venues including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Philharmonie Essen, and the Philharmonie de Paris, among others. In the coming seasons, he will tour as a soloist in Bach’s St Matthew Passion with the Orchestra of the 18th Century, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and make his debut at Dutch National Opera.
His vivid yet sincere expressivity, combined with an intuitive musical adaptability, is united with a voice of warm, soft-grained timbre and full-bodied presence, a sound documented in several acclaimed recordings (Cappella Amsterdam, Cappella della Torre, etc). His artistic path has also led him to unusual performance settings, including the suspended stage of the Julier Pass tower at 2284 meters above sea level.
Whether performing, recording, or hanging mid-air, Martin Logar seeks to serve and elevate the art of vocal music. At the same time, he remains grounded: a devoted admirer of nature, science, tradition, and common sense, he continues to explore with curiosity what brings the universe into resonance.
