In the captivating interior of the Church of St John the Baptist in Sudice, a profound spiritual tradition will resound in a performance by the Ukrainian male vocal ensemble Orpheus. The eight singers, led by Ljubomyr Konchakivskyi, are united by a distinctive dark Slavic timbre, refined vocal culture and an exceptional ability to create an atmosphere of quiet prayer as well as monumental liturgical celebration. A repertoire of Orthodox hymns, supplications and canons will unfold in the acoustics of the Sudice church in all its richness of colour – from delicate passages to resonant bass sonorities that are a hallmark of the ensemble. Orpheus is among the most distinguished ensembles of the contemporary Ukrainian choral scene, and their performance offers not only an aesthetic experience but also a powerful spiritual message at a time when the voice of Ukrainian culture carries particular significance.
