The concert at the Church of St. Nicholas in Ludgeřovice will feature the organist and composer Katta together with the Permoník Concert Choir and Youth Choir. The programme connects sacred music of different styles and eras – from the Baroque organ tradition of Johann Sebastian Bach, through the profound Orthodox spirituality of Rachmaninoff’s Bogoroditse Devo, the Old Church Slavonic inspiration of Jiří Pavlica, and the contemporary meditation of Ola Gjeilo, to the present-day works of Czech composers Irena Szurmanová and Katta. The highlight of the evening will be the composer’s Missa Organi (Organ Mass) for organ, solo voice and choir. The work follows the successful cycle Vox Organi, awarded the Classic Prague Awards, and employs both Latin and Old Church Slavonic in the individual parts of the Mass (Kyrie, Slava, Credo, Svet, Agnče Božij). In this composition, Katta connects liturgical tradition with her personal musical language, reflecting influences of folk music, the Baroque and the Renaissance. The concert will present sacred music as a living encounter between tradition and the present – quiet, solemn and deeply moving.
